Do Your Resolutions Fail??

Happy New Year!!!  2016 feels like a year full of possibility, I know that it's going to be a great year.  Do you feel it too?


A new year feels like a fresh start, a new chapter, like hitting the reset button.  A lot of us will make New Years resolutions, which I think is a good thing.  I mean, it's great to be focussed on improving and moving our best selves forward don'tcha agree?

So why do most resolutions fail?  It's that blasted all-or-nothing mentality again.  It's so easy to come up with a laundry list of resolutions, however most of us already have busy schedules.  How can we make it all happen?  If we're setting a lot of unrealistic, non-maintainable resolutions then we set ourselves up to fail and we'll be chucking that towel in no time. 

So how can we see our New Years Resolutions through this year?  Here are my plans & tips:

  1. Choose one or two resolutions, not 20 😉
  2. Make them realistic and maintainable - none of us can go 100% all of the time
  3. Follow the one-in-one out rule.  If you're brining something new into your schedule, then let something else go.
  4. Even with realistic resolutions things can get in the way so don't let one misstep be the end of your resolution, always keep foraging ahead my friend!

I obtained my Personal Training and Health Coach Certifications from The American Council on Exercise. I also have a nutrition certification through Precision Nutrition, which is a program that seemed tailor made for me as they teach a common sense approach to nutrition that is closely aligned with how I live. Obtaining these certifications along with the development of life coaching skills have allowed me to feel confident in my knowledge and ability to help my clients find their way.
